WordForge is a platform independent Open Source localization tool which accelerates the work of the localizers by providing many features.

Open Source localization requires advanced localization editors that allow a team o volunteers to produce a high quality translation for an application. the WordForge localization editor has been specially developed for this purpose. By enforcing the use of a specific glossary, spell-checking the translation, enforcing technical correctness of localization (variables, XML, spacing, punctuation, etc.), and using prior translations of similar sentences, WordForge reduces the amount of work required to do a translation, while producing better translated applications.

In order to improve the localization process, WordForge uses as a base format XLIFF, an XML-based open standard for localization. XLIFF differs from PO on the amount of information that can be stored in the file (and therefore used in the localization process). XLIFF files can store specific glossaries to be used in that file, all the translation memory information (prior translations for similar sentences), translation to a reference language also known by the translator, results of tests in a given sentence... and even the process that has been followed by a message (who translated and when, who reviewed, who approved, etc.).

WordForge, for which version 0.7 will just be released, is developed in Bangladesh, Cambodia and Spain, ensuring that it is well adapted to complex scripts.
